We all know the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, right? Well, if not, then let us illuminate you a little bit. It is a European fairytale about a young girl who is named after the colour of her cape. She walks through the woods to visit her grandmother and take her food. A Big Bad Wolf comes into the story, looking to eat the food and the girl. The girl tells the wolf that she is going to visit her grandmother. He advises her to pick some flowers to take along as well, but then proceeds to visit her grandma himself. In the process, he eats Riding Hood’s grandma. Upon the girl visiting, the wolf eats her as well. Later versions of the story tell the tale of a woodcutter coming along to the rescue and cutting open the wolf to rescue the two.
It’s this tale that Netent incorporates into their latest offering – Fairytale Legends: Red Riding Hood. Featuring a wonderful design and high quality graphics that only Netent could possibly utilise, it’s a very appealing offering. Red herself will also watch on as you spin the reels. And furthermore, every time you spin the reels of the game, a fairytale jingle will play. This creates a more authentic feel to the game.
Take a Journey Through the Woods
As any gamer familiar with online slots reviews will see when they load up this Netent offering, there are five reels and three rows available within. It’s upon these reels that you will also find the various different symbols. The starting symbols that are in this game are the regularly seen A, J, K, Q and 10 options. Five other icons are also present on the screen. These ones are a lot more thematically relevant. The first is of a story book surrounded by greenery. Following on from this is a pink rose icon, while the third is that of a golden key. There’s also a red and gold shield in plain view, while the Fairytale Legends makes up the fifth standard offering.
When viewing the game, you’ll also find that a total of 20 different pay lines are included. Netent have made sure that this is not something you’re able to change. However, you can switch around the total amount of the wager that you place. This is done first of all by altering the value of a single coin. There’s a range of between £0.01 and £0.20 for you to choose here. In addition, you can alter the bet level that is in play. This offers a range of between one and 10. Therefore, with these options at their highest levels, you can place a maximum wager of £200 per spin.
Specials of Fairytale Proportions
One thing that Netent is well-known for is the specialities that it adds to its games. It’s no different in the Red Riding Hood game, as there are several additions to ensure an entertaining round of gameplay is had. The first of these special features is the Sticky Wild Re-Spins. It is our titular character that provides the game with its wild icon. These can only appear on reels two, three and four in the main game, but during freespins it shows up on all reels. Whenever a wild comes into play, it will substitute for all others, except bonus icons. Two or more appearing during the main game will act as Sticky Wilds and a re-spin becomes active.
There are three random features available to access in the game as well. These are the Fairy Magic Spin, Fairy Surprise and Fairy Wild Spin. Of course, these come in to play randomly. Fairy Magic Spins will provide a random cluster of between five and nine medium win symbols, except for the game’s own logo icon. These appear as an overlay on the reels for one spin. The Fairy Surprise feature triggers randomly after a no-win spin. A medium win symbol will be randomly chosen and others will turn into one and the same. Finally, the Fairy Wild Spin sees three or four wild icons randomly appear on reels two, three and four during a spin.
Representing the bonus icon, treasure chests will trigger special bonus rounds. Three of these appearing on reels one, three and five during the main game will trigger the bonus round. There are three features available – Beware the Wolf Bonus, Free Spins and Coin Win. Players simply need to pick one of the chests to reveal their bonus feature. The two latter features are quite self-explanatory. The former one sees you participate in a board-game like round.
The Final Word
Taking a classic fairytale and turning it into a slot machine game is a great idea. Netent have obviously done this before with others, but there are amazing graphics in this one as well as perfect specialities. Not only does it include a great theme, but it’s all brought together in a perfect offering.
