Ghostbusters is a supernatural comedy franchise, which first came to light in the year of 1984. The first instalment came in the form of the film of the same name. It centres on a group of eccentric New York City parapsychologists. They investigate and capture ghosts for a living, which creates the basis of the film’s story. After the initial success of this film, the franchise went on to release other types of media, from comic books and video games all the way through to a theme park attraction. Of course, it’s also made its way into one or two slots games, with this IGT offering being the latest. Ghostbusters: Triple Slime takes you right into the heart of the 80s movies, with imagery appearing to invoke nostalgia for anyone from that era. And its special feature rounds are also thoroughly appealing.

Who Ya Gonna Call?

The design of this slot game presents players with a unique enough layout. There are still five reels on display, but the rows are stunted. Therefore, you get to see a design of 3x4x5x4x3 in this area. Upon these reels is where you will find the various different icons of the game. The first five of these are all relative to the original movies. The first icon is one of the team’s ghost hunting tools, while the x-ray headset is next in line. The Ghostbuster team’s car offers up another icon, which can pay out up to 100 times your bet. Two more symbols in this game come in the form of additional ghost busting tools. You’ll also get to see symbols of characters from the film. These are Harold Ramis as Egon Spengler, Dan Akroyd as Ray Stantz and Bill Murray as Peter Venkman. The Ghostbusters logo provides the highest paying standard symbol of this game.

Further to this overall design, players will also have the chance to win in 720 different ways. This is something that is set in place, so you cannot adjust the ways to win. However, you also have the chance to customise the value of the wager that you place per spin too. This is done by using the green arrow buttons at either side of the ‘Coin Value’ box. There, you can choose from a range of between £0.10 and £100. The maximum overall bet that you can place stands at £1,000 in total! And not only that, but you have the chance to make use of an ‘Autoplay’ function as well.

Ready to Go Ghost Busting?

You can’t expect a game such as this one to not incorporate interesting special features. Fortunately, IGT know this too, and have made sure to add a selection of these. The first of the specialities that the game contains exists in the form of the Marshmallow Man. He will work as a wild icon, substituting for all other symbols on the reels to help form winning combinations. He can show up on reels two, three and four only. And the only exceptions to the substitution rule are the Ghostbusters logo, Slimer and the trapping contraption.

As far as Slimer is concerned, he is one of the scatter symbols in the game. As such, he will provide a pay out wherever he shows up on the reels. Three or more of them coming into view in any position will trigger the Slimer Scatter Bonus feature. Each of these scatter icons transform into miniature Wheel of Fortune, which display multiplier values. The wheels will then spin in order to determine the total multiplier that your bet receives.

The game’s Triple Slime Bonus round begins with the appearance of the ghost trap icon. Three or more of these need to come into view in any location to provide you with such. First of all, you need to select a number of ghosts, equal to the number of ghost trap icons in view. These ghosts will then all reveal a green, purple or red wheel pointer. These come into view on matching colour wheels. Green and purple wheels award cash pay outs, while the red one provides a multiplier of up to times 10.

The Final Word

There isn’t really a better slot game out there to take you back to the thrill of these movies. The graphics are on point, the unique layout is very pleasing to the eye, and the special features make it completely entertaining. On the whole, it makes for a perfect addition to the IGT catalogue of slots.
