Quickspin have been firing in all cylinders as far as their game releases are concerned, and that’s never been more clear than when they released the wonderful science-based game, Gold Lab. This one takes you into a scientific laboratory where you’re able to mix together potent chemicals to form completely new substances, and spend your time talking about the wonders of chemical reactions with all the other scientists working there. However, you’ve got a bit more of a serious job to undertake as well, and that rests in the area of forming golden compounds that you can sell on and make huge amounts of money with. It’s not going to be easy though. You’ll need all your scientific knowledge and wits to pull it off, but rest assured, when you manage to do so, you’ll be rolling in the wealth. And, you’ve also got a trusty little helper in your mad scientist friend, who stands by and watches as you spin the reels.
An Acid and an Alkali?
The interface of the game is presented to you on a five reel and three row layout, so everything should be quite familiar in terms of visual appearance. Quickspin has also added a total of 25 different pay lines to the game and these are not able to be customised in any sort of way. Upon the game’s layout, you will be able to find the different symbols, and these start with bottles of different coloured chemicals which are the low paying options. These exist in the colours of purple, green, orange and red. Joining these are several medium paying symbols as well, including a blue triangular offering, a purple pentagon, a green octagon, a pink hexagon and a red, circular ruby.
While you may not be able to customise the amount of pay lines that are active, you do have the chance to customise the amount of the wager that you place per spin. This can be done by using the up and down buttons at the side of the ‘Total Bet’ box. This offers up a range of between £0.10 and £100, providing you with the maximum bet you’re able to place per spin. You can also use the ‘Autoplay’ button and this allows you to spin a maximum amount of 1,000 times at the same wager level.
It stands to reason that a game based on scientific experiments would feature some wonderful and creative special features, and Gold Lab certainly doesn’t disappoint in this area. It all starts with the wild icon of the game, and if this appears on the reels, it will substitute for all other icons in order to form a winning combination. The only exception to this rule is the Golden Bonus Scatter symbol and if you manage to spin five on to a winning pay line, you’ll receive a maximum overall pay out of £800.
The game also includes the Golden Bonus Scatter icons, and if three of these show up in the base game, you’ll trigger four re-spins of the reels. Each of the four bottles of coloured chemicals have a corresponding Golden Bonus Scatter symbol, and these can be differentiated by their red backgrounds. When the Golden Bonus is activated, all of the corresponding chemical bottle symbols on the reels will transform into wild icons for the rest of the round. During the re-spin, if one or more additional Golden Bonus Scatter appears, an extra re-spin is also awarded. These particular scatters will appear only on reels one, three and five.

The Final Word
Gold Lab is one of the more pleasing offerings on the gaming market today, for sure. It merges the intricacies of science with the thrill of a slot game, and it provides players with some intriguing and enjoyable special features alongside as well. Not only that, but it also incorporates a piece of soundtrack music that is pleasing to the ears, and furthermore, it gives you a chance to create your own chemicals. What’s better!?
