Merkur Gaming might not have a huge range of games featured in our slots reviews that are well-known, but that could change soon. Once more people have spun the reels of Palace of Poseidon, the future of Merkur could be bright. Don’t get us wrong. It doesn’t include a spectacular range of graphics, but the overall experience you receive when playing is pretty nice. It’s unfortunate that the developer made the game feature a very arcade-sounding piece of music. This does detract somewhat from the game’s overall theme. However, a mute button does exist within for you to make use of.

Of course, those of you who are aware of Poseidon will know that he was one of the twelve Olympian deities in Greek mythology. His main domain was the ocean and he is also known as the ‘God of the Sea‘. This is why the game takes you deep under the blue seas, where you’ll find various coral reefs, rocks and marine life. On top of this, you can find the reels, while the game’s logo is shown at the top of these.

Find Poseidon’s Palace

As said, the reels are clearly on display. There are five of these and there are three rows alongside them. It’s upon these reels that you can find the game’s variety of different symbols. These begin with the regularly seen A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 icons. Joining them are a few more thematically relevant symbols. These are all in the design of underwater sea life. The first two of them are of a seahorse and a starfish. There’s also the inclusion of a conch shell. Finally, the two higher paying icons exist in the form of an angel fish and an octopus.

In addition to the regular reels, rows and icons, the game includes a total of 10 different pay lines. You can adjust these to suit your own personal preferences. This is done by using the plus and minus buttons at either side of the ‘Lines‘ box. Players also have the option of altering around the bet that they place per spin. This is done easily enough by using the plus and minus buttons in the bottom right hand side of the screen. There, you can alter the coin value between £0.01 and £2. If you have all 10 bet lines active, you will be playing a maximum wager of £20. There’s also the opportunity to use the ‘Auto Start‘ button. This allows up to 100 consecutive spins of the reels at the same bet level.

It’s Better Down Where It’s Wetter..Under the Sea!

All of the The Little Mermaid influences aside, Palace of Poseidon enables you to play some special features as well. Whenever you spin the reels, you’ll find that there’s a wild symbol. This one is in the image of Poseidon himself. As a wild icon, he will substitute for all other icons on the reels. The only exception to this rule is the game’s scatter symbol. Any win that features this icon will also provide a double pay out as well. Five of them showing up on the reels on a winning pay line will provide a maximum pay out of £15,000!

It’s Poseidon’s own palace that provides this game with its scatter symbol. Scatters offer up a pay out wherever they show up on the reels. If five of them come in to view, you’re able to receive a maximum pay out of 2,000 coins. Furthermore, three or more of them coming into view will reward you with 15 freespins. During this round, all prizes receive a multiplier of times four.

The Final Word

You don’t need to be a fan of, or in the know about Greek mythology to play this slot. It features wonderful visuals of an underwater scene and fairly nice graphics. The special features aren’t especially anything alternate to what many other slot games contain. However, everything merges together very nicely to form an impressive offering. It’s a shame that the soundtrack within the game is as bad as it is, because it really does distract from the overall appeal. Overall, we’d certainly recommend it to any gamer wanting an entertaining experience.
