A Genuine Police Routine

The design of the game is able to provide players with five reels and three rows. Therefore, everything should look familiar enough, as it’s a fairly standard video slot interface. It is upon these reels that you will find the game’s various different symbols. And these start off with the often seen playing card icons. So, there’s the A, K, Q and J icons. Next in line, you will find two more symbols, one of Robocop’s car and another of his gun. The previously spoken of Nancy Allen also makes an appearance as Officer Anne Lewis. Joining her, you’ll see Ronny Cox reprise his role as Dick Jones. Finally, the very highest paying standard symbol of this game is RoboCop himself. He will multiply your stake by 40 times whenever five show up on a winning bet line.

As well as this layout, you will also get to see a total of 25 pay lines present on the reels. These are all set in place, so you don’t have the option of customising them in any way. However, all players do have the chance to change around the value of the wager that they place per spin. Simply make use of the plus and minus buttons underneath the ‘Bet/Line’ box. There, you can choose from a range of between £0.01 and upwards to £10 per line. This means that there’s a maximum overall wager possibility of £250 per spin. You can also make use of a ‘Turbo Mode’ button and an ‘Auto Play’ button. The latter of these allows you to set the reels off spinning several consecutive times at the same wager level.

Good Cop, Bad Cop!

What makes Playtech games so intriguing, is the fact that they usually contain many different special features. This is true in the case of RoboCop, and the first of its specialities is a wild symbol. This one can show up on any reel and will stand in for any other icon in order to form a winning combination. The only exception to the substitution rule comes in the form of the game’s scatter icon. Five of the wild icons on a winning pay line will multiply your wager by 100 times in total!

And as far as the scatter symbol goes, this one is present in the form of the RoboCop Detroit Police badge. Scatter symbols are able to show up in any location across the reels, and when they do they will multiply your stake. It is also the key to triggering one of the game’s special bonus feature rounds. You need to bring three of them into view on reels one, three and five to access the feature menu. In total, there are four of these available to you, and these are as follows:

  • Shootout Free Games Feature. Players receive 10 free spins of the reels with random wild icons occurring on each of the spins.
  • Robot Attack Free Games Feature. This provides you with five free spins with the ED-209 colossal wild icon showing up on reels two, three and four per spin.
  • Line-Up Free Game Feature. You’ll receive 15 free spins to go through, but two multipliers will be in play whenever you form a win.
  • OCP Mega Bonus Feature. You need to enter the police office and pick characters until you have three of the same with four different levels. Each symbol that you choose goes into its own collection area in its own level. Once the level is complete, you win that prize and the feature ends.

Base gameplay also has four random activations of bonus perks as well. These are minor versions of the bonus rounds spoken of above. These can occur on any spin.

The Final Word

The film was a great offering back in the late 80s, and this slot proves to be a nice option for playing today. We love the graphics and all of the special bonus content that it incorporates. All in all, RoboCop makes for a nice addition to Playtech’s collection.
